Palm Treo 500v

Ok, so it's official. The new Palm smartphone is named Treo 500v and, yes, I know you are screaming in horror, but there's nothing you can do - "v" stands for "Vodafone".

You may continue your screaming: the new Treo is running Windows Mobile 6 Standard, which means NO TOUCH SCREEN (someone call an ambulance, a couple of Palm fanatics just fainted) and... er... yeah... it also means Windows. You know what I mean.

Ignoring all the pleas by the Palm user community, the Treo 500v is also WiFi-less, but, since it's Vodafone-branded, this isn't a real surprise. A nice touch though is the Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR supporting A2DP and the 3G UMTS capability, but I'd like to see Vodafone's data rates before I use the latter. Hey, it even has a 2 MP camera. No front camera for video calls though...

The price is not known yet, but The Register mentions something about "free with certain plans", so it should be quite affordable.
